To build upon a track record of growth and success, we are seeking a Controls Engineer out of Dexter, MI.     

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support design efforts from concept through production for various mechanical design projects.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Allen-Bradley hardware and software, including ControlLogix and CompactLogix, to control a variety of fluid processes.
  • Manage electrical and controls design of new projects and existing products.
  • Review/approve or create (in AutoCad) electrical project drawings (as required).
  • Prepare written Functional Control Descriptions of all projects and review with outside parties.
  • Complete detailed programming and/or review programs completed by others for compliance.
  • Manage inhouse and contract programmers on a wide variety of projects.
  • Support technicians with runoff of modules and systems in Dexter and/or local fabricator locations.
  • Startup support of systems in field, either in person or remotely.
  • Maintain company HMI/PLC program library, including strict revision control.
  • Continuously improve company's process control technologies, including remote access and process and vibration monitoring and recording.
  • Communicate with inhouse, contract, and customer programmers of various abilities, to explain design intent and facilitate interface with other systems (e.g. DCS).
  • Establish and maintain remote access to facilities for troubleshooting and updating programs.
  • Support technicians and customers as required, including after hours emergency remote support.
  • Keep supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Trucent safety program, including but not limited to: hazard communication, PPE requirements and attending quarterly safety training.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field or 5-10 years of equivalent design experience with PLC controls for industrial automation.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years' experience with Allen-Bradley hardware and software (CompactLogix and ControlLogix).  Process plant design and mechanical equipment design experience is required.  Ethanol plant design experience is a plus, but not required.

 

Skills and Abilities, which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly, associated with this position:

  • Ability to apply commonsense to understand and carry out instructions furnished in oral or written form and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
  • Perform the basic functions of arithmetic; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform reading, writing and speaking at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to perform at level of quality required to prevent losses in cost, service, production and/or damage to equipment.
  • General knowledge of the skill trades including, mechanical, plumbing and electrical troubleshooting.

 

Travel Requirements:

Moderate travel may be required (up to 25%).

License(s)/Certification(s)/Training Required:

  • Valid drivers license (Chauffer or CDL license preferred) & acceptable driving record per company Vehicle Policy.
